All the cars are already set, to the beginning of the great show, expected for the 2007’s edition of the Rampa da Serra da Estrela – Cidade da Covilha.
Scrutineering and administrative checks ran without problems, in the presence of a lot of spectators, that took the opportunity to take a close look at the beautiful cars, that every year came to the race, and in the first day are parked near the Stadium of Covilha, before the real start of the most important Hill Climb Race held in Portugal, since many years.
The great curiosity goes – naturally – to the Isolani Racing Team’s Ferrari 360 NGT and 575 Modena, ready to get into the big fight with the Porsche 911 Turbo, driven by António Nogueira.
This driver must be the most prepared between the Portuguese entrants, together with the “local” Pedro Salvador, and Manuel Ferreira da Silva.
Regarding “Formulas” and “Barchettas” - simply amazing – real race machines, with specific set up for Hill Climb races, special notes to Anders Vilarino – the winner of the three races held until now – as well as the well known, Fausto Bormolini, Lazlo Szasz and Renzo Napione, all of them – but not Vilarino … really experts in Serra da Estrela track.
The amazing “barchettas” now with a reduced number of entrants, can also be important to the overall classification, mostly if the weather conditions get worst in the weekend as it seems it’ s going to be.
Even so, it’s going to be a great weekend to the thousands of spectators expected to full all their dedicated areas, like Sete Fontes, Rosa Negara and also Varanda dos Carqueijais.
About Security, the Race Direction asks for all co-operation of everyone; Please respect all signs of Marshals and Police officers, stay in the spectators zones and please not behind the red tapes that indicates real danger zones for everyone.
